HMHB's Legislative Activities & News

HMHB is a dedicated non-partisan network of grassroots advocates, healthcare professionals and concerned citizens.  We would love to add your voice to our chorus for Georiga's healthcare needs. In order to keep you abreast of the latest legislation and policy activity, we will post on this page, in the menu bar above, the legislative updates and any important legislative announcements.   Please add this page to your favorites as it is a place you will want to check weekly for the latest information.

Legislative updates urge our Coalition members to contact state legislators, particular committee members, or Department heads when critical health legislation or departmental policy changes are under consideration.  We continue to make a difference in Georgia's General Assembly.  Historical information and archives are available by contacting HMHB at 770-451-0020.

 NEWS

The Georgia Public Health Commission held its first meeting on July 12.  This commission was created to determine whether the state is best served by having the Division of Public Health be a part of DCH, an attached agency, a separate agency or a part of another organization. The commission will meet once per month and the meetings are open to the public. The commission's report to the Governor is due December 1, 2010. The Georgia Public Health Association is monitoring these meetings and is posting information on its website. Information is also available at the DCH website.
