Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Georgia is a dedicated alliance focused on improving access to healthcare for Georgia's families through innovative programs, effective networking and advocacy.

For more than 30 years, we have been a driving force at Georgia's state capitol with strong advocacy to keep our mission, and legislation related to improving health, before decision makers.  In addition, Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies manages the PowerLine, a statewide medical resource line referring callers to medical services and other allied healthcare.

Benefits of Membership:

• Notice of our Annual Meeting Conference and Legislative Reception - Each fall, generally in October, HMHB holds its Annual Meeting.  This is a day long conference featuring speakers addressing relevant topics related to healthcare both medical and political.  Generally, Continuing Education hours are offered.  This event attracts not only healthcare workers from around the state, but also state Public Health officials and their staff. For Annual Meeting information click here. We also host an annual Legislative Reception in early February of each year.  This event attracts Georgia's legislators and allows people to interact face to face and share ideas on effecting positive change in healthcare through policy and legislation. • Opportunity to join standing committees - We welcome and encourage all members to become actively involved. HMHB has three standing committees open to all members.  The Fundraising Committee, the Communications Committee and the Public Affairs Committee. Please choose a committee to join when you complete your membership form. Each of these committees is chaired by a Board member and meets approximately four (4) times per year.
• Resource Watch E-Newsletter - The Resource Watch is sent out by email to HMHB members generally every two weeks throughout the year. This newsletter provides information on healthcare activities in Georgia as well as throughout the country including ongoing activities, seminars, symposiums and National HMHB's activities and publications.  It also provides summaries of newsbreaking research result summaries with links to the original publications.
• Legislative Updates - During the legislative session each year, our members receive weekly updates on what is going on at the capitol regarding our issues or any other issues that may surface affecting healthcare for Georgia's families. Additionally, HMHB members receive alerts when bills relevant to HMHB's mission are about to be voted on so that members can contact their legislators to voice their opinions before the vote.
• Legislative Agenda - The Legislative Agenda is a document created each year by the membership of HMHB within the Public Affairs Committee. It outlines immediate concerns and pending legislation that HMHB is monitoring. This agenda is not only seen by HMHB members, but is also reviewed by many state department heads such as DHR, DCH, the Office of the Governor and individual Legislators. Generally, HMHB selects five to six issues of importance to support and advocate for each year.  You can view this year's agenda by clicking here.
