Merrilee Gober
After graduating with a nursing degree from the Medical College of Georgia’s SONAT program at UGA, Merrilee began her career as an obstetrical nurse at DeKalb General Hospital. Two years later she entered law school at Georgia State University College of Law. While there, she was an active member of the Christian Legal Society and served as the President of CLS her third year. She was also one of only six students selected to serve as a student prosecutor in the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office during her third year.
After completing law school, she joined the Buckhead firm of Chilivis & Grindler (now Chilivis, Cochran, Larkins & Bever) where she primarily litigated medical malpractice and other personal injury cases. After marriage and two young sons, in 1997 she “retired” from her full-time legal pursuits and became the practice manager, RN, and in-house counsel for her husband’s medical practice, Johns Creek Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Seeing first hand the needs of many underprivileged women and children, she and Dr. Gober began making donations to Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies. Merrilee joined the Board of Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies in 1999, and she currently chairs the Public Affairs Committee.
Her two boys are now teenagers, so many of her evenings and weekends are spent at the soccer fields cheering on their teams.
