Atlanta, GA – January 12 ,2024 Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Georgia (HMHBGA) will mark Maternal Health Awareness Day on January 23rd with a series of advocacy events at the Georgia Capitol. The day will commence with the Mom’s Tour, honoring 30 outstanding Georgia-based birth givers, by providing an opportunity for attendees to engage with key stakeholders, learn about maternal health policies, and discuss pressing issues. This tour will contribute to building community advocacy and understanding of the challenges faced by mothers across the state.

Following the Mom’s Tour, the day will progress to our Maternal Health Advocates Lunch. The lunch will honor our Charlotte Wilen Advocates of the Year Award to Congressman Buddy Carter and Congressman Sanford Bishop, recognizing their ongoing support for maternal health initiatives in our state. The Charlotte Wilen Maternal and Infant Health Advocate of the Year Award acknowledges the hard work and efforts of our state's lawmakers to improve maternal and child health through policy change. The advocacy lunch, a cornerstone of the day, will bring together key partners, honored mothers, Georgia representatives, and policymakers.

The grand finale will be the Chalk It Up Community Rally, uniting mothers, birthers, parents, providers, and advocates. The rally will feature personal stories from Georgia birth givers and provide a platform for our policy makers to voice their legislative priorities and goals for the 2024 session. This inclusive event aims to foster a sense of community and collective responsibility towards improving maternal health outcomes in Georgia.
