Breastfeeding Support

Breastfeeding is a public health game changer. It is low cost, low tech and seldom requires any durable medical equipment, drugs, or infrastructure. It does not discriminate. It improves the health of both boys and girls; healthy or sick; premature or full-term, rich or poor.

At HMHBGA our goal is to utilize advocacy, education and public-private partnerships to ensure that Georgia’s mothers can reach the six month mark of exclusive breastfeeding, a standard recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, by:

  • Ensuring access to breastfeeding support professionals, including International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) and Certified Lactation Counselors (CLCs)

  • Reducing stigma around public and workplace breastfeeding

  • Providing community-based education around the importance of breastfeeding and where to access support and resources when women encounter challenges

Nurture ATL: Community Lactation Support

Breastfeeding and infant feeding journeys deserve to be supported, informed, and affirming. Through Nurture ATL, families across Georgia have access to free, community-based lactation support designed to meet you where you are.

This program connects Black and Brown families with trained lactation professionals who understand the unique cultural, emotional, and practical needs of the communities they serve. Whether you are preparing to breastfeed, currently nursing, pumping, supplementing, or navigating challenges, you don’t have to do it alone.

Participants may receive:

  • One-on-one support from a lactation professional

  • Guidance on breastfeeding, pumping, and milk supply

  • Help navigating common challenges such as latch, pain, or returning to work

  • Education to support confident and informed feeding decisions

  • Culturally relevant care rooted in respect and understanding

Our goal is simple: to ensure families feel seen, supported, and empowered throughout their feeding journey.

While we strive to connect every family with a provider, matching is based on availability and is not guaranteed.

If you are ready for support, we invite you to sign up today and take the next step toward a nourished and supported experience for you and your baby.
