HMHBGA Honors Representative Darlene Taylor with the 2026 Charlotte WilenHealth Advocate of the Year Award

Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Georgia (HMHBGA proudly honored Representative Darlene Taylor with the 2026 Charlotte Wilen Maternal & Infant Health Advocate of the Year Award during its annual Maternal Health Awareness Day, held January 21, 2026. 

Representative Taylor was recognized for her longstanding commitment to improving the health and well-being of Georgia’s mothers, babies, and families. As Chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Health, she has worked to secure critical state investments that strengthen healthcare access across Georgia. She has also championed HB 291, legislation that strives to establish certification pathways for community health workers and expand access to trusted, community-based care. 

Through her service on the Special Committee on Healthcare, the Public and Community Health Committee, and as Chair of the Insurance Life & Health Subcommittee, Representative Taylor has demonstrated sustained leadership on issues affecting maternal and infant health, insurance access, and the healthcare workforce. 

The Charlotte Wilen Maternal & Infant Health Advocate of the Year Award was established in honor of Charlotte Wilen, an avid advocate for Georgia’s families during her life and a founder of HMHBGA in 1974.  Since its inception, the award has honored bipartisan leaders who have worked to advance access to quality, equitable healthcare for Georgia families.
