Join HMHBGA the Doula Integration and Awareness Workshop: Family-Centered Care presented by Dr. Whitney Lankford.
This presentation will support bridging the gap between families, medical professionals, and community doulas. As an OBGYN, Dr. Lankford supports families in honoring their birth plans, educating them on alternatives when plans change, and collaborating with community doulas to provide patient-centered care. Through her medical expertise and community centered knowledge, she's found ways to address challenges/gaps within patient care and birth outcomes. Participants will walk away with practical tips to better support Georgia's birthers and promote family-centered care.
About the instructor:
A native of Fort Washington, Maryland, Dr. Whitney Lankford has now called Atlanta, Georgia home for the past decade. After graduating from Clark Atlanta University with a B.S. in Biology, she completed her medical doctorate and residency training at Morehouse School of Medicine.
Dr. Lankford is committed to Holistic High Value healthcare and believes patient autonomy enhances that patient experience. She has an interest in preventative care in high risk minority populations and is focused on improving outcomes within maternal morbidity and mortality in Georgia.
She participates in educational and community advocacy opportunities through various outreach initiatives. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and participates in programs aimed at improving the well-being of adolescent females through initiatives aimed at bettering healthcare, self-esteem, problem solving, and leadership. In her free time she enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, live music, planning parties and collecting the latest sneakers! She believes community leadership, and public support , coupled with education can bring fruitful rewards that can greatly impact the community and ultimately improve outcomes for patients.
